"One Day I'll Be Gone"
Alex Whorms has created a song that consists of both voice and piano. This has given it a feeling both solemn and serious. On the surface, I like to think that the idea of "One Day I'll Be Gone" is about leaving your home town and going out to see the world. Or just more simply not waiting around for someone to come back.
The lyrics do suggest that a little bit at first as well, but then the more you get into it and hear about life, with lyrics such as "I want everything this world can give me", you begin to realize that idea of being gone is not because you're in a different state or country but rather that eternal gone in death. That makes this song feel a little bit sad.
Though slow and rather methodical, I think we all have to face the fact that at some point we all die. On top of that though, we have to recognize that we simply cannot do it all in life as there isn't enough time. Some of us may never go to France or do the things that other people do. And that's okay.
We have to focus on living our lives, being on our own journeys, and just making the most of it all. This song definitely can be sobering, but it has that more positive carpe diem type of message behind it. Regardless of what type of mood you are in, this can be easy to listen to just for that reminder to try to do the most we can with what we have.
