Music Review // Brayden Bell "Good Company"
Brayden Bell has such an interesting sound because it's got this upbeat rock feel to it but at the same time it can lean almost into a little bit of country. The way this sings about being in a dive bar also makes it feel as if it could be along those similar lines of Jimmy Buffet or something used in a not overly abrasive advertisement for alcohol.
One of the lines in this song which is funny (not funny) is about how he doesn't call someone as much as he should and the line says: "I use it in every other way". I use my phone to check email, to Google things, to listen to music, to go on social media, to check baseball scores- just a seemingly endless amount of things but rarely do I actually use it to call and talk to someone. Isn't that a funny thing?
While this song is about being happy to find good company in that same way of comradery that you might find in the show "Cheers", there is also a line that says: "I'm always trying to find UFOs" which I think is interesting. I feel like whenever there is a story about someone being abducted they're always alone. Perhaps the secret to not being probed by aliens is good company.
Before I even pressed play on this song, I was singing the title like the title of the song "Bad Company" by the band Bad Company. Though this song is a bit different from that song, it has a nice theme with the idea that people shouldn't really be alone and should have somewhere they can go to be among other people. It's also just really easy to listen to this, in terms of the overall sound.
