Music Review // The Neighbourhood Watch "Bones"
While this song starts like an almost folk type of electronic rock number (somewhat Mumford & Sons) it can break down easily into elements of Blue October and Kings of Leon, as the distortion comes through with the melodies. This just a fantastic rock anthem that should be played loudly so everyone around you can enjoy it with you.
There is something to be said for trusting your instincts. We all have them and we should all use them, as this song shows us. Sometimes what our brain says and what we feel are different, so when the idea of logic and being rational come into play we might choose the facts over emotions. But, as this song says, I do think we feel it in our bones for a reason and so trusting your instinct and gut reaction is a good choice.
The Neighbourhood Watch also has this great line in here that says: "The monster's in my head". When you think about anything like depression and things of that nature- when you have those thoughts of not being good enough- that is in your head; that is mental. So if you can have that instinct to say "I can do this" or "I'm good enough" then it's better to trust those instincts than what your brain might be trying to make you believe.
For various reason I'm just that type of person that can take a while to make a big decision because I like to weigh all of the options. But at the same time, if there is something I feel in my bones that can sway me one way or another I'll go with it. We all need to learn to trust ourselves more and this song is a great place to start.
