Music Review // Sanford "To Live is To Love and To Lose (Hua Li 化力 remix)"
When listening to this song by Sanford that is remixed by Hua Li it begins slowly with these beats that can also feel like some "ahh's" and maybe even "oooh's" are coming in behind it all. It starts off chill but then kicks into this dance party type of way, where it has drum claps and can just feel like we're at the club. The bass line creates an entire vibe of this song just being smooth overall, and then you can also begin to hear these spoken words which can echo like reverb.
At the two minute mark or so, we kick into this higher gear which not only has higher pitched tones but also comes in both faster and harder. This just makes me feel like we're driving and not even in a real car but in a video game. I am reminded of being inside of one of those arcade style driving games, but the ones you actually sit inside of too so you get that full driving experience. This sound seems to really relate with that experience.
As we get to the three minute marker, these big distorted beats can drop like bombs. This makes me think of a more classic style arcade game or even a NES game where you're flying a 2D plane, dropping things out of it onto whatever is below you. I think there was a game to this extent once called "Barnstormer" but I only remember that as sounding like an engine, so perhaps this would be a better score to add to a similar video game.
Before the end, within the last minute, we get right back to that slowed down sound like we heard in the beginning, complete with the spoken words. When you have a song that is mostly instrumental, it isn't always easy to pick it out from other instrumental songs, but this song somehow not only has a way of standing out on its own it has seemingly different segments to it so that you can not only recognize it but you could probably make a good guess as to what part of the song you were hearing if you just heard a clip. This song is that good.
