Music Review // Miist "Love Will Show Us Our Way"

  There is something about this song by Miist which, as soon as I hear it, just makes me feel like it's from a Disney movie.  As someone who grew up with "Aladdin", "The Little Mermaid" and "Beauty and the Beast", this is a song which would fit in well with any of those soundtracks.  One of the biggest differences between "Love Will Show Us Our Way" and a Disney movie, however, is that through this big piano piece, Miist sings a message which feels rather direct while also remaining about the general concept of love.

While it doesn't feel like there is enough music out there where people can keep it simple- to just the piano and vocals- Miist has a found a way to not over-complicate matters here, musically.  During this music video you can also see the piano being played, as well as the sheet music, giving this a sort of classical feeling about it all.  There are also scenes in here of people together, smiling, and that just feels like it is about the overall feeling we can get from one another that creates love.

Miist has used this music video to also launch The Love Project, which will recognize real acts of kindness from around the world.  I am one who firmly believes that in this life you get what you put into it.  If you act with kindness and love, you will likely receive that in return.  We not only need more of this type of positivity in the world, but to have it be reflected in the music with lyrics such as "Love can teach us / Love can heal us" it makes an important point.  Sometimes you just have to see someone else doing something to realize you can do it too, which can really change someone else's day.

Lyrics within do say "Look all around you / When the clouds surround you / It feels like the sun has gone / Like everything has gone wrong".  The world can feel like a dark and even scary place at times.  But the fact that we can still find love, still find that light in the darkness, just shows why we have to keep going on- if not for ourselves, then perhaps for someone else we can have a positive impact on.   All I know is, we should keep playing this song and keep paying the kindness forward.
