Music Review // Apryll Aileen "Take Me"

From the very first note of "Take Me" you can tell that Apryll Aileen came to dance and this entire song just never lets up.   While I can feel undertones of disco within this song, I can also feel as if there is a steady pop way about it which reminds me of a modern artist such as Lady Gaga.  But something about "Take Me" also makes me think about the past, when music was more dance-based, with artists such as Janet Jackson and Paula Abdul.

As this music video reflects the positive energy of the song there is also a lot of dancing going on within it.   These visuals are something I'm not used to seeing in modern music not just because music videos are not as present as they once were but also because the way that music like this hasn't existed since maybe back when we were all part of the "Rhythm Nation".

One of the lyrics within this song that comes in the chorus is: "Gonna make you love me in the dark".   I like that this song is not only something you can put on and dance to based on the music alone, but also the lyrics seem to be doing that dance of love, that back and forth.   The fact that line is there without being so blatant about it just makes it even better because you really have to pay attention and read between the lines for this one.

Everything about "Take Me" is perfect.   The way that it can channel different feelings of the past- with the music video, subtle lyrics, dancing, etc- to the way it feels modern as well.  Put this one into your playlist that you have in a social setting and next time you have a party watch it come alive.   Bonus points if you can put it into a YouTube playlist and have the music video going at the party.
