Music Review // Owen Marchildon "Celebrity Singles"

Owen Marchildon takes us through a journey on "Celebrity Singles" about what it must be like to be single and in Hollywood.  This is something that I've thought about from time and time and why many celebrities likely end up dating other celebrities.  If I was a celebrity, on the cover of magazines and such, and someone was dating me I would constantly question if they were only doing so for the fame that came along with it.

And as this song says, nothing lasts in Hollywood except for "plastic surgery and sunny weather", so if you were a celebrity and at some point became less famous, you'd have to wonder if the person dating you would then leave you because of that.  Or maybe if you weren't getting as many movie roles you just become less fun and more miserable of a person so the divorce isn't completely unrelated but it's still not the sole reason.

Within all of this, we always have to think about other people in terms of what they can do for us.   Whether it's friendship, family or a romantic type of relationship, we always must wonder if the person we are dating is with us because of who we are or because of something else which we have- such as the money, the notoriety, the power, etc.   Those who have those true and pure relationships must cherish them more because of this.

"Celebrity Singles" has a sound that goes from a certain era of The Get Up Kids to Tom Petty to The Wallflowers.   Some keys are in here, but it's that type of rock that you'll be singing along with sooner rather than later.  This is just such a great song and I can't get it out of my head because of the melody but also because this idea is one I've tried to understand before.
