Music Review // fawney coves "Rumble Love"
"Rumble Love" is the type of song that as soon as you hear you just know it will be dancing its way into your head. It begins with "ba-ba" sounds and there are other vocals coming out which are not quite words so the rhythm of it all can just take over and fill your head. It's pop in the way that it is contagious but there are not really a lot of other artists to compare this with. If it was released in the early 1990's it could feel like a collaboration between Gloria Estefan and Madonna.
Fawney Coves is definitely going to make you move with this song as it can be some sort of dance number, perhaps along the lines of Salsa. I just see a lot of hips shaking, which is to be expected if you also happen to view the music video for this. But what strikes me as most interesting about this song is that it goes from the start to finish as more of a loop, a hypnotic trance, and not so much of the verse/chorus/verse style.
As this song goes on, you can begin to feel it as being something more than just the music. At first I think of it as being almost like a ritual, as it can feel close to chanting even though it isn't that. But then I feel like it is spiritual in that same way. The same way that you might see someone in a horror film chant something to ward away an evil spirit, I feel like this song is that same type of concept but it is instead lifting you up and just taking you to a higher level rather than anything to do with negative notions.
I very much enjoy the idea that songs can tell a story with a beginning, middle and an end the way that "Rumble Love" does. As we get near the end with this one, you can hear the guitar notes coming out to add those slight changes to it. But to exist a world where you can be on the verge of pop where you can also get stuck in someone's head without being traditional verse/chorus/verse is not easy, but Fawney Coves has accomplished that here.
