Music Review // JoJo Worthington "Ever Ender Star Infinity"

When "Ever Ender Star Infinity" begins there is this winding and wandering way about the sound.  It is electric, but can also feel acoustic and perhaps with something like a jawharp in there to give it this folk feeling.  Overall it just sounds pleasing and reminds me of bands like The Murmurs and Sixpence None The Richer.  At a time when films just don't have the same type of soundtracks as they once did (because the films just aren't the same) this would have shined in a time when it could have been part of the soundtrack for "10 Things I Hate About You".

As it goes through all of these motions musically in the verses, the chorus drops off into this deep sea of distortion.  This can feel like a modern -gaze sound, but it also just furhter makes me feel like this is something out of the later part of the 1990's.  With that slow and heavy way about it, I am reminded of Mazzy Star during the chorus.  Even by the end of the song there is just this wave that washes over you, showing the music over the vocals.

What this song is about lyrically is hinted at in the title but perhaps feels more direct in the lyrics:"You're all that I want / I want you infinity".  Much like the music itself can stretch seemingly forever with the distortion, and it also seems to feel like it can stretch forever across space and time as well, this song is about that infinite unknown.  And to know that you want someone is kind of a big deal because no one really knows what the future is to hold.

The vocals can echo and it can feel like we're in space as well, but this is just such a great song because it feels so nostalgic.  And there are artists who create songs that remind me of days past and I enjoy that they do that, but JoJo Worthington does this in a specific way which brings about sounds those who were not of the time might not even know about and those of the time might struggle to remember.  This is definitely a song for music lovers of the past, present and future.
