Music Review // GorpoPap "Reach 4 The Stars"

This has a very specific type of electronic sound to it. It's not quite vaporwave, I don't think, but it moves in a similar way and before the percussion kicks in it can feel like it has these tones being played like crystals. It has a rhythm where it can feel almost like a video game and it just has this pace that will make you want to move, like your mission is to eat as many berries as you possibly can and you are on your way to doing just that.
"Grainy Screams" opens up like The X-Files and then it has these big, bass synths behind it which always make me think about this certain genre of pop and hip hop from the 1990's. The way it begins moving, at times I think of this as being like the opening theme to "Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers" but only for a moment. Beats expand at the end, like somewhere between Transformers and a jaw harp. A steady rhythm but quieter Morse Code type beeps take us into "Sonar". The percussion comes in to really life this track up, almost like a "Hey Mickey" song.
Percussion becomes chaotic while the synths are sort of droning, more ambient, behind all of this. It's somewhere between "Run Lola Run" and the movie "Go" now. I enjoy how this feels so fast paced with the percussion, but then these expanding synths come in behind it to play out slower in contrast, and yet it still all somehow works and they even blend together at times. We're into a more traditional type of electronic sound now on "Rubber Bass". This is just such a great dance song right here, but also can channel the show "Alias".
"Tiny Dancy" feels as if it has a bit more of a glass feel to start with the tones and then it kicks in to where it just feels like a lot of fun. This reminds me of being near a koi pond and hearing music, but also slightly like the "Rugrats" opening theme as well. There are somewhat vocals- but I'm not sure what is being said- on "Bikini Bottom Club" as tones strike and expand behind the beats. The vocals create a rhythm that becomes like a chant, so even if you don't know what the words are you can still sing along with the "ha. dayday. ha. daydayda." type of sounds.
A lot of clicking turns into beeping on "Acid Rain" and then the beat kicks in hard. It continues like this video game mission but also with these beats like we're in a technical, electro rain forest. Deep beats bring out laser shots on "DFAM Dream". The beat comes in and it feels like we're inside of a video game set in space, laser blasting our way through anything that gets in the way. We end with "Party @ The Boathouse" which has these rubber band-like electronics with the bass beats and just an overall feeling like this is some fast paced strings being played but is more likely electronics.
A fast paced urgency now, as if the bomb is about to go off and we're watching as the counter counts down. This also feels like one of those situations where you're at a dance club and you're about to have your night end, so it's one big grand finale before you have to go home. Big beats drop like the nail in the coffin as the final tones and this just brings it all to an ending where it is only fitting considering how intense this has been all along, yet still fun and just all about that energy.
