Music Review // STAHR "Mother Aura"

The idea behind what "Mother Aura" is can be difficult to describe unless you understand both what the kids today mean by the terms "aura" and "mother".  "Aura" just means someone who has that undeniable glow around them while "mother" typically refers to a powerful female figure.   This song by STAHR definitely sets the scene for that nicely, as one of the first lyrics is about walking in with your snakeskin boots.

It does not feel like it happens often enough, but STAHR has captured both these lyrics and music in the same vibe.  You have to imagine, lyrically, for us older folks that this song is like bands from the era of Guns N Roses, where they'd ride around in limos and trash hotel rooms.  It's just that idea of being someone that everyone wants to see and get their hands on, a true celebrity if you will.

In that same way, these distorted guitar riffs cut through to give this song a true rock n roll sound.  Artists like Metric, Sahahara Hotnights, The Vines and The Dollyrots can come out.  There is even a spot where it drops off and comes back, both feel like you're rocking but also having a good time.  There is a lot of energy to this song and in a music video sense I would imagine the artist going from limo to stage to hotel room and that sort of concept based on the lifestyle.

When listening to this song, you won't be fooled.   There is a certain tone to these lyrics- a weight that they carry- which could not be delivered in a sound other than what STAHR has created here.  To try and pass off not only the lyrics but also the vibe of "Mother Aura" in a way which would sound emo, country, shoegaze or something else it just wouldn't work.  It had to be big.  It had to be loud.  It had to be perfect.  STAHR has made sure it was all of these things and so much more.
