Music Review // Niloo "Nessa"

Perhaps the quality which you will notice most about this song "Nessa" is the guitar.  Every single note seems to be played to precision and even as the percussion comes in you can feel the mood and movement.   There are cymbals at first, but eventually there are those drumrolls as well and it truly just sets the pace for the entire song.  Though it is closer to the slower and lighter side than the faster and heavier side, the song still hits with a jolt of seriousness which shows that it is not to be taken lightly.

On some level, the way that the guitar comes in and sort of twists and turns, I think of this song as being similar to "Paint It Black".   There is also this underlying quality here which makes the song feel like it was written as a metal song but doesn't quite fullly come out as a metal song.  I think of when heavier bands covered "Paint It Black" as examples.  But ultimately, this is just the unique voice of Niloo taking you on a hypnotyzing ride with this song.

The song "Nessa" feels like a story and as songs like this tend to do, it becomes a song which you must listen to the lyrics from start to finish yourself to appreciate them.  Before the end there are the lines: "Nessa, can you hear me now?  I'm calling out", but it feels unfitting to bring out any more lines because to keep them within context you simply must listen to the song.

Throughout this special sound with lyrics that fit as well, you'll likely hear the way that this guitar can be used and come out almost like a sitar.  It can remind me of The Beatles in certain aspects of their sound, but it just feels more like it's creating this setting which goes beyond music and into some other higher form of art.  It can feel psychedelic if you let it, but that might just also be the sound overtaking you as you listen to it.
