Music Review // KING LUDD "TROUBLE"
KING LUDD hits heavy and hits hard with the song "TROUBLE". At just a little bit over two minutes in length, this one comes in with that wave of distortion which you might have felt during grunge but also can feel even a step above that as there is screaming. When "TROUBLE" feels more melodic (and it does at times) I am reminded of Foo Fighters, but when it is at its heaviest I am reminded of Weep Wave.
There isn't really a whole lot to think about with this song in terms of lyrics. It is about what it says it is about, very direct and to the point. It is for that reason that we must leave you, as this song says "This is a long goodbye". The chorus also says "I'm a reasonable amount of trouble", while I enjoy lines like "Can't sleep / Haven't slept" because when you're out causing trouble there will be no rest for you.
What I like most about this song is that it's about what the title says but that works with the lyrics to set the mood. If this was a song about how much someone loved someone else and was supposed to be about seeing the world through rose-colored glasses then the musical aspects of it might feel off, but the way that the two connect and almost are abrasive- the sound comes out in a way where it kind of interrupts you.
Simply put, there are not enough songs like this out there. While I would like an entire album in this style, just to have a few songs here and there is okay as well. It's just that every once in a while you need that song to kind of knock you out of your socks. You might be zoning out or thinking about something else entirely when KING LUDD can shock you back into reality and that reality is this song.
