Music Review // The Imaginaries "Little by Little"

The Imaginaries are a husband-and-wife duo, which is worth noting because while they both take turns singing during "Little by Little" they also can sing at the same time.  They are also shown holding hands in the music video.    Through the acoustics this song finds its way into rock but also just feels like it's at those Americana roots, just the way that music is made in certain parts of the country (such as Nashville, even though they are from Oklahoma which also fits) The music video is also set in nature which just vibes with the sound.

While many people want to have those big life-changing moments like they do in the movies, "Little by Little" is a reminder that it's not always about that one big thing but rather sometimes things just take time.  The first line that really stands out says "This uphill grind we've been in it" and that is something I feel a lot of people can relate with now.  It just feels like you make five steps and then something comes along and pushes you back seven.

The chorus says "Little by little and inch by inch we're gonna make it" and that's the positive type of thought you need whether you're trying to get ahead in life, love or something else.  I also enjoy that there is the line: "So let's keep singin' the songs we love that we've been given" because sometimes, no matter how life is treating you, all you have to take comfort in is those songs.  And this is that exact type of idea too where listening to a song such as this can help you through.

"Little by Little" has a beautiful sound that just flows so easily on the ears.  It also has this great message about sticking it out.  I think a lot of life is made up of the little things, but if movies and books talked more about those little things it wouldn't be as interesting as that one grand gesture that saves the day.  So whatever you're doing, if it's working, keep doing it.  Eventually you will get to where you want to be and hopefully this song can provide some comfort along the way.
