Music Review // Lanz Pierce “GET IT”

 There exists a song called “I Hope I Get It” from A Chorus Line and “GET IT” by Lanz Pierce feels like an updated version of that.   Now, A Chorus Line was about getting something else while this song can be open to interpretation as to what it is exactly that you want to get.  Is it money? Is it fame?  Then again, that musical would’ve had parts that lead to that I guess. 

Getting out of that musical idea, Lanz Pierce combines hip hop with a sense of pop to create a sound that has beats and record scratches but can also feel so easily accessible.  This is just such a chill type of song I feel like anyone could get into it and unless you aren’t about success then you should have no reason to object.  

One of the things in this song that holds true is that there is a line about how 22 is an old age.   While I don’t believe that (it would make me ancient) there is that idea people seem to have on social media, like if you’re over 30 you must have been alive to see dinosaurs.  I’m not sure why this is, but just go on Twitter and tell them you’re of a certain age and see how they react.  

With a nod to Eminem with the line “Don’t you wanna be just like me”, Lanz Pierce portrays that crossover potential between fans of hip hop and the general masses.   “GET IT” could be the anthem everyone needs to find that motivation to do whatever they most need done.
