Music Review // ERV ELLO "Flight To Heaven" ft. Lexnour
ERV ELLO has hip hop beats and other elements which mix with that country sound as well that a lot of artists on the radio seem to be playing around with these days. Between the singing and rapping, "Flight To Heaven" also just feels like it leans on the country side of things because it is a depressing song, overall, as the flight is about death. So this song becomes that tribute to someone who you are missing.
The singing itself does have a country twang to it at times, but then there are lines about being at the bottom of the mug. The song offers up some ideas of why couldn't it have been him instead or why just not have this other person die at all, and so it becomes that fitting tribute which can be felt when we lose someone close to us.
My faovrite lines within this song say: "I'm not good at goodbyes / Will I ever stop missing you" because when something happens where someone is taken from us- and this is just a part of life so it does happen quite a bit- there has always been that theory of it hurting a little less every day until eventually it doesn't really hurt, but I've never bought that. I feel like so much of death is just others going through life with the pain of those who left us until we leave as well.
Regardless of how deeply you want to read into this one, there is still this idea that this song can come on at a bar and depress the hell out of the room but also bring people together in the way that most everyone has lost someone they care about. With death being such a natural part of life, I don't think we talk about it enough but this song can definitely help with that as well.
