Music Review // Trinelise Væring "I'm not a Quitter"

There is a lot to be said for this song by Trinelise Væring.   Not being a quitter is something we should all have as a mindset, but sometimes we just need that reminder- that push in the right direction.  As October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it's important to remember those who are out there fighting those huge life and death battles, where they need support perhaps more than anyone else.   But at the same time, this song can help you get through your day to day issues as well.

With this bluesy, country type of rock sound, Trinelise Væring reminds me of Tracy Chapman and Sheryl Crow.   There is something universal in this song though, within the sound, because the message of it can also speak to anyone.   "I'm not a Quitter" is about being a fighter, though the song never really says what it is that we are to be fighting against.   Keeping it vague in this way can help you apply this song to any and every situation in which you might find yourself needing it.

During the chorus there are lines about not throwing in the towel and "I'll be rolling with the punches / Till the fat lady sings".   There are also lines about how injuries will come but you have to keep going and that's perhaps one of the most important things.   We might have these hurdles or set backs in our lives, with our progress, but you just need to keep going and not let them stop you.  As the song says: "I'll progress blow by blow"

Whether you are fighting for your life or just trying to make it through the day, this song can really help you through and hopefully provide you with mantras to guide you to the end as a winner, not a quitter.   If you are fortunate enough to be in a place where you don't need this song right now, send it to someone who might and book mark it because there will likely come a day when you do need it.
