Music Review // A Weekend At Ramona's "I Never Get It Right"
A Weekend At Ramona's have returned with a new single and simply put it is blazing. At first, I hear these sort of darker undertones which make me think of a band such as Oingo Boingo. There is definitely some sort of new wave energy underneath this all, which you can hear that influence coming through, but as the song goes on you just feel it being lead by the guitars. They just cut through to where this song hits hard and it hits fast.
"I Never Get It Right" has lyrics about what the title says. Sometimes you can go for an entire day and you just feel like no matter what you do, it's not right and it's not working. When you have that kind of day all you can really do is go to sleep and hope that when you wake up the next day will be better or at least not as bad. The way that this song goes though it's more about a relationship where no matter what you do it is wrong. Let me tell you from experience, if everything you're doing is wrong get out.
There is such a thing as being in a toxic relationship where nothing you do is right. It will be full of double standards and the other person always trying to turn everything around on you and always making you out to be the bad guy. If you do end up in this situation, it's not going to be good for you or your mental health overall, so you need to bail. During this song there is this line: "You're too far / And I miss holding you baby" and if you feel that distance, just let them go. Create more space and move on for the better.
The beauty in "I Never Get It Right" is that it could be a song that you can read into as deeply as you wish. It can fit your situation for whenever you most feel wrong. And yet, at the same time as all of that, even if you're one of those "I'm never wrong" types of people, you can still take something from this music and play this song because it's just flat out rock n roll.
