Music Review // Lyubov Kay "cU"
From start to finish, "cU" keeps the same pace and as that matches the theme of the lyrics it comes together perfectly. With a sound almost delicate, this song is somewhere between R&B, pop and hip hop. It can very easily lure you in as it has almost that seductive quality and yet at the same time it's just overall chill. This is important because "cU" can feel like a sexy lullaby because it is in fact a song about sleeping.
During the chorus the main line which can be focused on during this song says: "See you in my dreams / Cause it all makes sense to me". While this song is specifically about a relationship with another person, I do find it funny that we tend to have these moments where we can imagine any number of scenarios in our heads and how they'll play out, but then they end up quite different in reality. "cU" definitely has that overall fantasy aspect to it.
It's easy to imagine how something can be so right in your dreams because that's why when you're thinking of a potential person to date you have that "dream girl" or "dream guy". The illusion doesn't always match the reality. But Lyubov Kay also seems to come to terms with the fact that what it's really like might never be as good as you think and the lines: "If dreams are all we have / I'm okay with that" show that.
From dancing around at a slumber party in the music video to the way this song just has that overall dreamy feeling, I like this song because it can work on many levels. But if you want to, you can also listen to this song and think about that crush you might have that feels out of reach. Someone who is a celebrity and out of reach for many reasons or just someone who you dream about but cannot be together for other various reasons. "cU" is a great song to take that comfort in.
