Music Review // Blue Pilot "Dripping!"
As soon as this song starts a lot of electro-pop feelings come over me. I can hear the autotune and I begin to think of artists who are well known such as Charli XCX, 100 gecs and even Ke$ha to some extent. There is a fast paced way about "Dripping!" with the beats and it's just an upbeat song, truly a lot of fun. This is that type of song that feels like it's pop enough that if you put it on a playlist at a party people are going to just dance and not complain about it.
Within these sounds there are also reminders of video games, which makes this feel like both a soundtrack to such a thing or even I could imagine it being part of the soundtrack to a movie such as that new "Super Mario Bros" one or something like Sonic the Hedgehog. With that, this does feel a bit like chiptune or whatever the 8bit sound is being called these days, which also just makes this overall feel like a theme song or a song within an anime.
Lyrically this song is fun and inventive. The line about the title says: "Drip until I'm drowning" and that just makes it feel like it's one little thing after another until it all piles up and becomes this one really huge problem. At the same time, this song has lines like: "But I can't fall behind / So I left you to die" which definitely feel like they're out of a video game or anime that we need to experience to fully understand.
"Dripping!" is a fun song that if you put it on for other people would get them moving, but even if you just put it on a playlist for yourself it carries that type of energy which hopefully gets you moving at a faster pace. Whether it's to wake up and get going or to power through when you begin to tire, Blue Pilot has the shot of energy you need, possibly at many moments throughout your day if you're anything like me.
