Music Review // Lou Z "Holes for the Hearts"
At first this song starts off so slowly and beautiful that it feels like we're going to go into "The World I Know" by Collective Soul. As this song goes on, the tempo picks up and Lou Z delivers this acoustic-based sound of rock n roll which crosses genres. There is a definite groove to all of this and before the end of the song there is also a fuzzy guitar solo.
What I really like about this song is that it has these qualities of a rock n roll song by a classic artist such as The Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin, yet it could also just as easily be something a little bit more modern like Stone Temple Pilots and Blind Melon. But within all of these traditional (sort of) rock n roll sounds are usually the electric guitars playing loudly and this is more of a light, acoustic feeling to it.
There are different lines within this song which can mean different things from the perspective of Lou Z. On one hand, there is the line:"Can't get you outta my mind", which makes me think that the holes are in the hearts of Lou Z. To have that hole in your heart feels like a broken heart and so with that lyric it feels like Lou Z might have been on the receiving end of it. And yet, there is also the line: "I left you all alone and crying", which would imply that Lou Z did the heart-breaking.
Whether you recently had your heart broken or you are the reason why someone else had theirs broken, this would be a good song for you to relate with on an emotional level. All the same though, this is just such a chill song that I think it sets a vibe where, yes, something bad has happened but now it's time to move on. It's just such a unique sound but also one I really like hearing so I hope more people hear it as well.
