Music Review // Clea Vincent "Speakeasy" (Midnight Special Records)

"Speakeasy" is a nice, quaint piano-based EP from Clea Vincent.  Though these six songs are instrumental, the piano is clearly leading the charge.  The first song feels relaxing, like we're just outside on a bright and sunny day.  The second song goes into more upbeat piano sounds, which makes it feel like we're up and about now, taking a walk through our neighborhood.   Percussion comes in, heavy on the cymbals, and this just has that jazz way about it as well.

Groovy beats can come in as well and this whole collection of songs just feels like it tells a story from start to finish.  As the listener, you can let the piano be your guide and the story which this tells can somewhat be decided by you.  When the sun is shining and you're able to walk around your city or the downtown of your town, this could provide the perfect score, as you can see all which occurs within your community.
