Music Review // 2ŁØT (featuring Elise Trouw and Cameron McCloud) "I Hurt Myself Again"

If you hear a song titled "I Hurt Myself Again" you might not expect for it to begin with these lighter synth tones which eventually kick in and remind me of "Stranger Things", but sometimes the lighter music and heavier lyrics works.  There are beats within here and towards the middle as well there is this great musical interlude just to kind of show how deep this music can go without the lyrics.

As this song features guest vocals by Elise Trouw, you can hear two vocalists at the beginning of the song.  They work well together, often singing at the same time or otherwise taking turns, sort of singing in response to each other.   Music has that history of singers working together like this and my closest point of reference is "Bring Me to Life" by Evanescence, which is heavier than what is happening here, but I'd be down for an entire album of 2ŁØT + Elise Trouw.

Lyrically, it can feel as if there is a lot to digest here and that's because there is.  Just the idea of what the title says should be enough to have a basic understanding of the song, but I do enjoy the line: "Hear the lie in my own tone".  I feel like if you can hear that- if you can recognize it to where even you know you're lyring, then I'm betting everyone else around you that you're lying to is well aware of it as well.

"I Hurt Myself Again" ends with a rap, which just makes it unique enough and there are a lot more words here for you to choose from when relating with this song.  I think this song has a definite message about your mental health and self harm, so in that sense if you've been on this side of it or know someone who has, then this song is here to let you know that you're not alone and hopefully it can help you as well.
