Music Review // Luella "Peach Ginger Tea"

"Peach Ginger Tea" is such an interesting song about a concept we don't talk about enough as a society and I'm not quite sure what the connection is with this specific drink, but it just works.  Within the lyrics of this song you'll find lines like "Dripping down your chin 'cause you're in awe", "'Cause I'm thinking that you made me up" and "I recognize we look good on paper".   I think the idea behind this song is that sometimes you can be physically attracted to someone but not work beyond that.

At the same time, there is also this line "We never were that deep", which makes it seem like we were cool for the summer but never really going anywhere serious.  I just like the fact that when you scroll through social media and see a woman who men find attractive they'll comment things about what they'd do to her, but when it comes to real every day things like laundry and taking out the trash they'd likely buckle under the pressure.

This song just overall has this cool pop vibe as well.  It's slow and mellow, and the line "Let's all get high, blast our music till two" just feels appropriate.  There are elements on Lana Del Rey in here ("NFR" era) and it's just a fun song to hear.  Likewise, the music video is fun as who I can only assume is Luella is riding a bicycle holding a cooler.  This is fun because it feels like that cooler could be going to the party.

By the end of the music video though you learn that the cooler is full of the title- "Peach Ginger Tea"- and that Luella takes it to the beach to drink it.   From the music video to the sound of the song to the lyrics just hitting on different levels, everything about this is a vibe.  It feels like a summertime vibe, but it also just feels so smooth that you can really enjoy it at any time.
