Music Review // Ava Della Pietra "rearview mirror"

Ava Della Pietra is an artist who has created many songs that I have heard and enjoyed, but "rearview mirror" is a special song because it comes through with an undeniable passion.   This song has an attitude that you can't help but hear and with the lyrics it just seems so fitting.  Elements of pop, but these bass lines and beats just make this song so unique as well.  Ava Della Pietra has once again excelled with the lyrics, her voice and the music.

There have been a lot of breakup songs written over the course of time but I don't think that this specific story has been told in song yet.   It's a shame too because this idea seems to be common so I'm not sure why it isn't talked about more.   The chorus brings out the theme of "rearview mirror", which says: "You say you just wanna be friends but you're lookin through the rearview mirror".  How many times has someone said you'd remain friends just to try and soften the blow but they didn't really mean it?

Furthermore, this song goes to a place where not only does this person not intend to stay friends but they are already looking forward to their next relationship with someone else, which is what puts you in the rearview mirror.  It's really something which feels like happens all too often and needs to be addressed more, so Ava Della Pietra does so with a style and sass that only she can.

This music video takes us through scenes between the various characters, from cars to a diner and by the end it seems like the guy who left the girl in the rearview mirror for another girl gets found out as he has a drink dumped on him.   In some ways, this reminds me of a classic MTV music video, such as Paula Abdul's "Rush, Rush".  Listening to this song and watching this music video are both as powerful and you should treat yourself to both, whether you've been burned in a relationship or not this fire is legit.
