This game saw the Rainbow Graphics coming in at 2-0 (with wins over M&T Bank and the South Windsor Phillies) and the Bristol Greeners sitting at 0-2 (with losses to the Middletown Mets and Record-Journal Expos).    It's always interesting to see a team who is either undefeated or without a win play because statistically it is difficult to keep either of those streaks alive for an entire season.  You just know at some point, the team has to either win or lose and break that streak, so every game feels like it might be that game.

Except for this game because the Bristol Greeners got into some trouble in the second inning which they just couldn't recover from.   The first inning was 1-2-3 for the Graphics and other than a HBP it was also 1-2-3 for the Greeners.   Then the second inning came and the Graphics went on a hitting spree that would plate seven total runs.

It all started with Ryan Laubscher, who is perhaps the biggest new name to talk about with the Rainbow Graphics, as he hit a deep shot to left field for a leadoff double.   Dan Orzech would double in Laubscher in an error to first base and then Eric Anderson would double in Orzech. Bryan Rodriguez would hit a double of his own, but Eric Anderson held at third base.   Yes, that was four doubles in a row.

Christian Steiner would single and load up the bases for the Graphics with the score 2-0 and no outs.   An infield fly rule pop up would give the Graphics their first out.   Dan Steiner would single in two more runs, making it 4-0 and then Tyler Repoli would make it first and third with two outs, driving in another run.   Ryan Laubscher would return to the plate again, hitting it up the right side for first and third again but also making it 6-0.  Dan Orzech would single in the final run of the inning and the airs felt like they were let out of the sails of the Greeners.

In the bottom of the third inning with two outs, two walks and a deep shot to left/center field would bring in the first Greeners run of the game.  In the bottom of the fourth inning with bases loaded, Elliot Norris singles in the second Greeners run of the game.   During the fifth and sixth innings there wasn't a lot of action, as it felt like both teams had settled down and there wouldn't be any more scoring during the game.

The top of the seventh inning saw Dan Orzech double.  Jason Valliere would double him in and Christian Steiner would eventually bring Valliere home, for the final two Graphics runs.   A HBP would start the bottom of the seventh and though the Greeners would tack on one more run, but a comeback was just not in the cards as the Greeners would've needed six more runs just to tie it.

The story of this game is that in their third win, the Rainbow Graphics did what made them feel so unstoppable last season and just accumulated hit after hit by putting the ball where the defense wasn't.   This is going to make for an exciting season because even only in our second week, things are heating up.
