Music Review // Mitchell Makoons "Changing Man"

Mitchell Makoons has a fast paced country sound on this single "Changing Man".   There is a certain amount of melody within here.   It can also lean more towards the rock than the country side at times, which makes me think of the song "Roll To Me" by Del Amitri.   But at its core this feels like it has elements of pop within the song because if you played this on the radio it shouldn't offend anyone.

The words within this song are also worth hearing as they carry a universal message I hope everyone can a way to relate with.  The idea of being the "Changing Man" is that you aren't who you were before, but you've bettered yourself in some ways.  The funny thing about life is we're all changing, all the time.   When you were 12 years old you probably didn't like the same things you did at age 22.

But during this song, Makoons makes reference to giving up drinking "that cheap whiskey", which is not only something you can relate with if you are struggling with alcohol addiction but just nay addiction really.   Your whiskey and his whiskey don't have to be the same, but that idea of giving up your vices still remains.

One of my favorite lines in this song is: "I've turned all around / You should see me now".  Too often we lose people to their addictions and vices.  We don't get to see them turn around and better themselves.  For this reason, I feel those who do turn it around should be celebrated a little bit more.   Whether you are a cause for celebration or in need of finding one, put this song on and take it to heart.
