Music Review // Jackie and her brother "You've Changed"

Every time I hear music like Jackie and her brother make I feel instantly happy.  Maybe it's because it's an upbeat pop sound, but maybe it's because it reminds me of different times when things were just better all around with the world (Nothing specific just being younger).   With big synth pop beats, Jackie and her brother have elements of Matt & Kim, Tegan & Sara and Mates of State.

One of the more difficult things to accept in life is that we all change, we are all constantly changing.   And that's fine because it's better than just being the same person you're whole life and never trying anything new.  But the idea that "You've Changed" could be in a negative way, but as the lyrics in this song sing after the title it's because you "had to".  This feels like adaptation, which doesn't feel like a bad thing at all.

The vocals are layered in here but there are also these layers within the song itself.  It feels like when you have a pop song on the radio the lyrics aren't always deep, but I do enjoy that this song can spark a much needed conversation but you can also get out on the floor and dance to it.  The music seems to be much more fun than the sometimes hard to swallow pill about growing up and changing.

As humans, we grow and change every day.  Sometimes we have trouble accepting this, but as people in relationships or even just looking at ourselves in the mirror I hope we can use this song as a positive message about something which just occurs naturally and feels inevitable.  No one should ever make you feel bad for changing if you're growing and this song is a friendly reminder of that.
