Music Review // Bad Buddy "Q.B."

Bad Buddy has a very distinct rock sound which channels elements of modern musicians such as Thelma and the Sleaze but there is this hint of classic rock, going back to something like the song "Hot Blooded" by Foreigner.   Bad Buddy creates this strong message, not just for those within the music scene but for life in general.

The chorus of the song has a line which says: "Cheerleader? No, I'm the QB!"  This very much feels like a gender role but it also feels like a case of mistaken identity.  I'll wager dollars to donuts that most women within the music scene have been thought of as being a groupie or someone who does the merch rather than play in the band.  It's one of those stories I wish wasn't so common but that's on those other people to do better.

In this way, regardless of your gender, you can use this song to inspire yourself to take control of your life.   In a way, being a cheerleader means just sitting back and watching your life unfold while being the QB could mean taking a more active control of it to get what you want.  I really do believe we all have something special in it and perhaps this song will help to bring that out.

This music video is also a lot of fun because at one point the band is playing but people behind them are moving their arms to make them play and even moving their mouths to make them sing.    This reminds me of something they do on Whose Line Is It Anyway? but overall it just makes it feel like you're a puppet and someone else is living your life for you.   If you've ever felt like you're not in control of your own life, let Bad Buddy help guide you to take that control back.
