Music Review // MUKI "Morning Music"
There are bushes and grass right outside my bedroom window, so when I wake up in the morning the first thing I usually hear are birds. Right now, as we are in Spring time, I feel like the sunshine also plays a role in waking me up, but it's just that whole idea of the sounds of when you're waking up being "Morning Music", as MUKI sings in this song also: ""Listen to the morning rain". That sound in everything in our day to day life can begin to feel like music as it grows to become a part of who we are.
"Morning Music" tells the story of two different people but they have similar stories, similar end goals. The second story tells of someone who: "waited all day for his fate / She didn't come". At this point he begins to run, but falls and gets hurt, but then the song says "He knows that it will hurt but he'll slowly learn to stand on his feet". In this way, this song feels like it's about persevering because even though life can knock you down, there is strength in getting back up.
As this begins with acoustics and can have the bass line and percussion join in, it is largely a delicate and steady moving pop rock song. The sound reminds me of artists from Milky Chance to Jack Johnson in the way that the acoustic guitar notes come through and can even seem to have a break down of their own at one point. But by the end of this song, there is a big, distorted electric break down which the song ends on. I do like how this comes in as a contrast to the previous sound but just works so well at the end.
Something about the morning can feel magical, and MUKI has captured that within this song. Often times I've felt sick or just like the day wasn't going my way, so I went to sleep and figured that when I woke up in the morning I'd feel better. It feels like a fresh start to leave yesterday behind and start over. Having the sun shining and birds singing in my case can really help as well. So sometimes, if you feel stuck or down, you just have to find your "Morning Music" and wake up to a brand new day.
