Music Review // 2ŁØT "Tread"

In an almost emergency-like way, 2ŁØT begins this song "Tread" as the beats come pulsating in.  The only words within this song are "Tread in a new way" which are repeated in an almost chant-like rhythm.  This is important because it can feel like a mantra, to the point where it gets stuck in your head.  If you keep this in the back of your mind, almost like subliminal messaging, then hopefully the message will stick and you will be able to do just that.

So much of life I feel can be compared to other aspects of life and as such I feel like the message within this song can be thought of in terms of baseball.  If you play baseball at a collegiate level, then during the summer (when there isn't college) you can play in summer leagues that are also at a collegiate level.  However, there are also summer leagues open to players above the collegiate level, which is where I feel really broadens your horizons and can develop you as a player.  This whole idea baseball isn't just about baseball and college though- it's about life.

If you ever feel like you're stuck, it might be because you are in the same place and not willing to venture out of your comfort zone.  Doing something out of the ordinary for you might even seem scary, but unless you get out of that box, unless if you tread in a new way (as this song says) you're going to become complacent.  Sometimes we need to do that which scares us to level up an explore new options as humans.

Within these beats come sounds like both horns and piano, which gives this a jazz sense but also in that way where it can be something you easily want to get up and dance to.  There is a slight break down where it gets quieter and the flute takes over, which also feels more like a jazz influence, but just having this be that electronic fused jazz can just seemingly take a listener out of their comfort zone if they're used to listening to one of the two genres but not both.  Journey to new places within this sound, within these lyrics and then ultimately within your entire life.
