Music Review // Kat Greta "Audactiy"

"Audacity" is a pop song which starts off with these fast paced drum machine beats.  The music video follows this, as it feels like we're going through the looking glass in a modern version of "Alice In Wonderland".   The sound carries on with the video and the part in the lyrics about it going "on and on" can repeated quite a bit, but I do feel like that will help this song to get stuck in your head as well.

There are two different parts to this song within a chorus that express what it is about.  At first, the song says "It goes on and on without you" and then later it says "The audacity / How it goes on and on around me".   This is one of those tough situations in life because sometimes when things happen, we wish people were there with us and they are no longer there.  This could be something like a significant other breaking up with you and you're left putting together the pieces or a child going off to college when you'd want to see a new movie with them.

But at the same time, this can even go as far as death.  Sometimes, in grieving and in loss, we have to set those boundaries and feel like people who aren't here are responsible for that.  It might not be fair, but sometimes we have no other option- it's just better for our mental health and, well, if that person didn't want us to blame them for dying then they should be here to defend themselves.

As this song speeds up, it nears the end and the music video can quickly change from being in a city, in a subway setting to going through a door and feeling like we are in this magical place with huge, colorful plants.   Right before the end the lyrics get into a spoken word and say "I just need a second", but then it ends without that second.  It's very much that unpredictable nature of life which can also make it feel like such an adventure.
