Music Review // Brassroots District "Aim High"

Brassroots District has emerged with a sound that is a little bit of Parliament and a whole lot of Funkadelic.  "Aim High" is a stone cold groove that will not only have you up and moving but send those positive vibes throughout your body.    With a sound funkier than Grand Funk Railroad, this is taking rock n roll to that level of rhythm and blues that artists like Led Zeppelin also seem to be pushing for with their sound.

From Sly & The Family Stone to Gladys Knight & The Pips, Brassroots District has a unique sound that will drive what was previously thought of into the future.  If Woodstock was up ahead instead of in the rearview, Brassroots District would have definitely blown some minds with this sound that has all the driving force of Stevie Wonder and War.

One of the grooviest parts of this entire song is that horn section as there is even a sax solo near the end of "Aim High".  There is just something about hearing a song which wants you to be looking up at the heavens while also hearing those docile tones that makes you feel all right.  This song has a very easy way of making anyone listening to it feel all right.

Hopefully "Aim High" is a sign of the times not just for your own spiritual quest, but also for the days of music ahead.   A little less Donny Osmond and a little more Dr. John won't hurt anybody if that's the direction this sound is going to take us in the '70's.   But wherever we end up, just know that if you listen to this song, you better strap in and prepare yourself for the ride while remembering to "Aim High".
