Music Review // Sherry Jacoby "Constellation"

While the song "Constellation" can begin with acoustics that can make it feel almost like a lullaby, the song does kick in by the chorus.   Dreamy sliding guitars and even a piano focus before the end bring out the harmonies of Sherry Jacoby.   Though not referenced enough, this song reminds me of something from Anna Nalick in the way that it delivers a specific type of rock- lighter to almost the pop side- with a distinct voice that once you hear it you'll relate with Sherry Jacoby.

The idea behind the lyrics is an interesting one because I don't think music talks about the stars enough, or at least not like this.   The chorus says: "Cause I got you / And for the first time in my life / My hope is true", which can be thought of as having that loyalty of someone, that someone is always there in the same way you can look up at the sky and see the stars every night.  The chorus continues: "Our love's a dive into the stars / I fell into / A constellation of your name".   This feels like a Little Dipper/Big Dipper relationship in a way.

As the chorus concludes it has the lines: "And I'm with you / Till only our light remains".  It's funny how we can group the stars together and think of how they bring more power and light when in that grouping, but yet this is the first time a song has made me think of those stars as people, which has presented the overall idea of not only being stronger together but just being there as the stars have been there seemingly forever.

I really enjoy the lyrics that say "When night falls, it is known even in darkness / There will be a glimmer of the everlasting glow".  To me, this feels how deep and serious you should want your love to be.   The stars are actually burned out long ago but we still see them.  So not only is that idea of having that constant light which makes this beautifully played song so special, but it's the idea as well that what we feel will shine on long after we are gone.   Other people will still feel it, even if it is through this song or just because love is a constant.
