Music Review // see through person "every way of living"

One of the common misconceptions about music, to me, is that people hit this point in their life where they stop listening to new music.  While I realize that this does, in fact, happen I believe it is because people find a style of music that they like and then just latch onto it.   For me, a lot of the sound that shaped me came in the early 2000's, which was full of emo, punk, hardcore and everything in between.  But I think the secret to music is not giving up on it, but rather finding something new which reminds you of your favorite times.

With singing and screaming, punk and elements of emo, See Through Person has created a sound which takes me right back to when I was listening to artists like Time Spent Driving, Eleventeen and Liars Academy.    The sound on "Every Way Of Living" has this sort of Say Anything grit to it, starts and stops, and on "Stupid Joke" it can get a little bit of math and go into a heavy breakdown.   At times this reminds me of something more recent, like Tiny Moving Parts, but at other times it takes me back to those artists who are seemingly forgotten, like Kane Hodder, who was in fact a band named after the actor (but the actor wasn't in it or anything)

A song such as "Temporary Word" shows how the sound can slow down and not be the same for every song, while "Don't Text Me" has chaotic guitars which can be heard throughout the album as well.  There is just a sense of emergency to these songs, as if See Through Person has been told that this will be their one message put out into the world and so they have to make it count.   It has an importance, but it also feels like the musicians are under pressure while delivering it, which somehow makes it even stronger.

While "Mono-Yellow" has a big instrumental part to it, the lyrics are a part of this album which you will begin to embrace on subsequent listens.  The music is enough nostalgia mixed with modern sound to create something unique that needs to be heard, but I also feel like people will be listening to this and coming back to it so they can sing along with the lyrics.  It's not that the sound is catchy as much as it feels like something you can relate to, in the sense that this person went through something but so did you so now you can sing about it together.
