It has been since November 12th that we last saw the NCW.   Throughout December we endured the holidays and Jan/Feb tend to bring the cold and snow so this brief hiatus was definitely understandable.    But we missed going to Dedham to see NCW as they have become one of my favorite promotions simply because they are home to a lot of my favorite wrestlers and when you put my favorite wrestlers in matches against each other it only makes the matches that much better.

This show both opened and started somewhat on time and that was something which was really appreciated.   When we first got in, we made our way to the merch area after claiming our seats and Quentin of course wanted to buy cats from Delilah Hayden right away.  We also got this t-shirt that has both Perry Von Vicious and Rip Byson on it- and they both signed it- and it will eventually get a frame and go up on the wall somewhere (I'm very much running out of wall space)  This show was packed and it had a good vibe- the crowd stayed hot for the matches all night long and they deserve credit for that.

"Sweet Victory" opened with Ricky Medeiros taking on Mike Montero in what the kids refer to as a "hot opener".   While there were a few fans in support of Mike Montero, one has to wonder what would happen if the former NCW New England Champion were to secure some more wins and challenge BRG.   Would the fan then get behind Mike Montero because he'd potentially be taking the title from BRG?  I definitely think Mike Montero could do it though and I'd certainly like to see him try.

The second match was unannounced and a bit of a mess.   At first, I thought it was a two on two tag team match- as Da Hoodz and League Of Excellence were both in the ring- but then more wrestlers came out and it turned out to be a 5-on-5 match.  Both Da Hoodz and LOE have managers who were arguing ringside in front of us during the match and so it just felt like too many people out there at once to be able to pay attention to who was in the ring or what was going on.  This match was where CPA found himself on the card and seeing CPA is always a welcomed surprise.

One of the matches which I was looking most forward to came up next as it was the Ballroom Blitz Match featuring six of the best women in all of wrestling right now- and I say that as someone who very closely follows women's wrestling across the universe.    The match started with Paris Van Dale and Shannon LeVangie, then Delilah Hayden came in only to be eliminated shortly thereafter.  Shannon LeVangie and PVD both went out quickly next, as Elle Valentine joined the match and this put Elle Valentine at an advantage.  Jessie Nolan came in to face Elle Valentine, but then Isana joined the match and seemed to team up with Elle Valentine.

Now, one of the things I love about NCW is that they have LMK as their Women's Champion right now and B3CCA is injured but will likely be back eventually and all of that doesn't even account for the fact that you can also see women in NCW such as Delmi Exo, Ava Everett and Davienne.   But this single match right here can literally create enough matches and feuds to last the entire year in NCW.   Elle Valentine vs Jessie Nolan.   Elle Valentine vs Isana.  Elle Valentine & Isana vs Jessie Nolan & Shannon LeVangie.  Isana vs Shannon LeVangie.   Just really take any of these six women, put them in any combination of a match and it's going to be great.  That's my guarantee.

Isana won this match and even though she entered last she still had to have been the favorite here and for what it's worth I think she would've still won if she entered at number one.  Really, Isana winning that title from LMK and then feuding with Jessie Nolan for it is the big money feud of 2022 for NCW.   I'm not sure if NCW HR gave Isana her raise or not after the Big City Rumble, but I'd also really personally appreciate it if the LMK-Isana title match didn't happen until 4/8 when NCW returns to Dedham because we won't be able to make the RI show and I really want to see that match!

In our next unannounced match, "Foxy" Calvin Campbell came out with Doc Ozone- who is the Manager of the Year- and he took on Osirus.  One thing which needs to be said here as well is that the recipients of the end of year awards in NCW were presented with their awards throughout the night.  For the Ballroom Blitz, LMK came out to do commentary and she won Women's Wrestler Of The Year (you know I voted for Isana) but this was a nice touch and fun to see throughout the night.

After Osirus got the win over Calvin Campbell, the team of BRG and the ref who helped him cheat to win the title came out and then The Lumberjake made the save.   This took us into some talking and then eventually BRG and Osirus both bailed on the ref and it looked like The Lumberjake was about to beat him up when The League Of Excellence came out.  There was an offer for The Lumberjake to join the LOE, which he declined, and then this became a match between The Lumberjake and Dylan Nix, which was actually a lot of fun because Dylan Nix is just so underrated.

All of this took us into intermission, during which of course Quentin got more cats and then after intermission we went into the final four matches which were all title matches at that.   We started things off with Channing Thomas and Vern Vicallo defending the Tag Team Titles against MSP.   This was fun because it was about the Tag Team Champions working together, which they did fairly well.  Now they just need a team name- something like Naturally Vicious- to really seal the deal that they're on the same page.   But it was also great seeing MSP for the second weekend in a row.

Rip Byson was out next and this was how we found out that Tim Lennox wasn't there, as Rip Byson took on "Riot" Kellan Thomas for the NCW New England Championship.  It felt like Rip Byson got a lot more offense in this match, and as such he should have been able to secure the win, but that just shows the toughness of Kellan Thomas and just how much it's going to take for someone to take that title from him, which I personally do not see happening any time this year.  They could announce literally anyone as his opponent and I'd still consider it to be somewhat of an upset if he lost it this year.

Second to last we had LMK successfully defend the NCW Women's Championship against Delmi Exo, which now secures the LMK vs Isana match.   You have to think (and this won't be the last time that I type this) about how Isana has just had these victories over Jessie Nolan to close out last season and then winning the Ballroom Blitz on this show- it just really feels like Isana is unstoppable and LMK is really going to have one of her toughest matches not only as Champion but in general.   With the LOE on her side as well, Isana would have to be going into that match as the favorite to win as well.

The main event was full of the highest of highs and the lowest of lows.  At one point, Perry Von Vicious had the three count and everyone thought he had won the title.  The referee then said that the decision which he just made would not stand because he realized after the fact that BRG's foot was under the ropes so the match must continue.  A little cheating and BRG retains the title.   One thing is for certain: These fans were hyped and ready for PVV to hold gold.  I think the decision should have stood- the ref counted to three and let BRG argue about his foot being on the ropes later.   But it still showed that Perry Von Vicious might not have won the title on this night but he is more than capable of doing so.

Overall this show was a lot of fun and the fans just help make it that way as well.  I always tell people that one of the things I love about NCW is that they have more than one women's match and more than just two women on the shows as well.  But the fact that they also bring in different levels of talent but all around it just works- it just makes their shows so much fun but also so unique and something which everyone should check out because it feels like there's something for everyone and for me, personally, I just enjoy it all.
