Music Review // Twilight Muse "Living for the City" feat. Robert Randolph & G. Love

Twilight Muse has this great sound which fuses rock and jazz roots with that jam / open playing type of rock feeling.  On this song "Living for the City" they showcase how their style is about the music itself more than the vocals / lyrics, even though this song can also be quite important lyrically.  This is really reflective of a collective of artists coming together with their different sounds and forging one singular sound.

Along with the general funk feeling on this song, Twilight Muse is joined by both G. Love and Robert Randolph, which is part of their upcoming collabortations album which will be released on April 25th, 2025.  This is just one of the collaborations Twilight Muse will make into a song, but what I find most interesting about this album is that it is also going to be entirely live which each song being played with special guests for an overall show experience.

This song itself sings about something we don't talk enough about because it needs to be talked about almost constantly.  The story at first tells of a father who works "14 hour days" and is barely making a dollar.  The way that the time of other people is put into value is very backwards in this country and by "Living for the City", it basically feels in a lot of ways like we're just working to live and then wake up and work another day and that's not right.

Having a live music video with this song is a great glimpse into what type of crowd this sound would bring in and the whole just vibe in the room.  This is definitely something I would be a part of live, but being able to see not only Twilight Muse but all of these other guest artists would make the show so much fun.  It is something we will eventually be able to live through the audio and video, and I appreciate that, and it begins with this single right here.
