Music Review // Casa Del Sol "Love In a Time of War"

As someone who enjoys a good pop song or a rock song which will discuss topics ranging from love to life lessons, Casa Del Sol reminds us on the new song "Love In a Time of War" that sometimes life isn't just about those things but can be more serious on a much larger scale.  In the time that I've spent on this Earth, it's felt like there hasn't been a time when someone wasn't at war with someone else, but right now seems to be a time when it's hitting the worst.

Throughout this acoustic/folk type of rock song that reminds me of Bruce Springsteen and 77 Apes, Casa Del Sol has words about what happens when we find "Love In a Time of War".   The chorus says: "Good and evil sharing the same spotlight / When something's wrong how come we still got right?" and it really just makes you think about these people who just want to go about their daily lives but are unable to do so because they live in fear of being bombed and have likely seen relatives, friends, etc already devastated.

Lyrically this song also brings up the idea of the people responsible for this all.  There are the lines: "He sells peace but just loves a fight / How can he sleep at night?"  Isn''t it funny (not in a haha way) that if you're on the receiving end of the war- if you're being viciously bombed- then you probably cannot sleep well due to the fear of an attack, and yet the people who have had their hands in murdering all of these innocent people are probably sleeping at night and not thinking about it because they have no soul?

Some songs are about love, and while love is in the title of this song I feel like this more about bringing awareness to war and how/why we must stop it.   One of the most important lines in this song is: "How could they bring a child into this scene?" and I just think about all of the children who will grow up without parents or won't grow up at all because of war.  The end of this music video also tells us that food is a universal human right- and if you disagree with that you're some kind of monster- and you can currently donate to the World Central Kitchen by clicking here: https://wck.org/.    For a song about good and evil, we need more good in this world and less evil.
