The music of 3D THE BOSS can really feel like it changes from song to song but overall it just has this energy to it which should make you want to get up and move. This is demonstrated in the first song- "Go"- as you are given verbal instructions to do exercises. There are songs which exist that dictate where to put your hands or feet in order to dance, but this is some of the most recent music I've heard that feels like it can double as a workout. It's not just that it has that jazzercise vibe to it, but it's also that the lyrics seem to really want you to get up and move as well, like an old aerobics VHS tape.
With funky bass there is a sound like disco as well. A little bit of hip hop and a little bit of pop, we go into "Bbgg" with a sound more like a smooth spy. "Sneaky Peaky" is a provocative number that reminds me of the Britney Spears song "Slave For You" and when the lyrics of these songs don't seem to make you want to exercise your body in a gym way they seem to be of a more sexual nature. There are also elements within of artists such as Christina Aguilera and Lady Gaga, who to no surprise 3D THE BOSS does name drop Gaga.
"Ham" makes me think of Fall Out Boy mixed with Salt N Pepa and RUN DMC, which is quite the mix but I imagine it something like if Fall Out Boy was to join up with a modern hip hop group- Beastie Boys come to mind- and do a crossover like Aerosmith did with RUN DMC. It goes into this guitar solo, which is both unexpected and extremely cool. "Up On Your Way" has big synths and the harmonies in the chorus make me think of "Get Lucky" by Daft Punk. This album goes out on a song called "Still Standing" which has horns and can remind me of Save Ferris but also just something out of the 1990's pop rock way, along those lines of pre-ska.
What I really enjoy most about 3D THE BOSS is that while their music is just a whole lot of fun and energy which everyone should have in their life, they also have this positive message within their lyrics. Their music video for the song "Push It" serves as a sort of work out guide- which is nice- and on the last song on the album the lyrics discuss setting standards for yourself by standing up for yourself, something I also find to be very important. Not too often is this much positivity brought into the world but I am here for it.
