Music Review // Tickets To Space "True"

As "True" begins slowly, it kicks in eventually to where it becomes this pure, blissed-out rock n roll.  You could take traces of this sound all the way back to the Buddy Holly era, but it also feels like a song from "That Thing You Do!" or perhaps more recently Franz Ferdinand.  It has that energy to where it's on that cusp of being punk, but isn't quite punk.  In this way it reminds me of the later albums by The Mr T Experience, when they started getting more pop into their sound.

Tickets To Space discuss many things within this song, but they are all things that they want.  Whether it be a house and a dog or as the lyrics say: "I hope this music thing will pay the bills".  It is important to have these types of wants though because if you don't feel like you'e working towards something then you might end up feeling like your life is pointless and you end up no longer working.

I also think the line about the music paying the bills is important because people seem to largely underestimate the power of music.  I went to my local dead mall the other day, which had been silent for years, and they just recently seem to have began playing music over the speakers again.  Go to your local anything and you'll hear music.  Where do you think all of this music comes from?  If people get priced out of making music, the world will suffer in ways I don't think most people even consider.

An upbeat song about knowing what you want in life, but as the chorus says that they hope all of these things come true, it also says: "And I hope that it's with you".   This makes what starts off feeling like a drive and ambition of an individual into a love song about two people spending together forever.  Melodic and sweet, if you felt so inclined you could even sing this to your special someone with different lyrics if they were allergic to dogs or something.  Either way, this will get stuck in your head for sure.
