Music Review // Jay Feelbender "Disco Disco"

Jay Feelbender has created a pop rock force of a song with "Disco Disco" that just hits and keeps on going.   When you have the word disco in your title not once but twice, I do admit I'd expect the song to have a little bit of disco vibes.  Maybe not full on disco, but just some kind of hints of it to make you be reminded of the genre.  But in this sense, for this song and Jay Feelbender, the idea of disco just seems to be the dance and not the sound.

During the chorus we have the lyrics of "She wanna disco disco / Yeah we're gonna go all night / And if things go how this goes / Yeah we're gonna be all right / Just keep holding on to me / And baby I'll hold on to you for life".  This seems to present the overall idea that we're on this whirlwind of a ride but just hold on and don't let go.  I like that the energy of this chorus matches the energy of the song in the way that it feels like we've got to just keep moving together.

One of the verses comes with the lines "I don't wanna be famous / I'm aimless / She's moving on without me".  This takes the song into a turn where it tells a story about someone who thinks they are the right fit for someone else, but then perhaps they are just kind of hoping for fame- or something more than where they start- and so as it happens the two people kind of grow apart from each other.  The music doesn't really reflect this and I think that it is for the best the song stay positive musically.

"Disco Disco" is a pop hit with rock guitars and synths.  It is catchy in the chorus and could immediately on the radio with artists such as Neon Trees.   But most of all, it just feels like this ride that you'll want to take.   It might not last forever, and you might have been in one side of this situation before, but this song will definitely either give you some nostalgia or maybe even some insight into a relationship you are currently involved with.  Either way, you'll have this one on repeat in your head.
